The Proving Grounds

The Proving Grounds is a basic map for teaching new players the gameplay mechanics and basic concepts of the game such as using abilities and what turrets are.Every new summoner is required to do this tutorial to have a good start on this game. The proving grounds can also be used in custom games but there is no particular queue for it.The map is shaped like a line or the river in Summoner's Rift.Every team has two towers outside their base,in the base there is one inhibitor, two towers protecting the nexus and of course the nexus itself. One team can only win if the enemy's nexus is destroyed.

The Summoner's Rift

The Summoners Rift is the most used Field of Justice on LoL. The map was given a technical and graphical update on May 23, 2012.

Gameplay and Features

The objective of The Summoner's Rift is extremely straightforward – destroy the enemy’s team nexus. In order to do this, champions must go through one of three different lanes to attack the enemy at their weakest points they can find. Both teams have their lanes defended by three turrets; each turret grows in strength the closer it gets to its nexus and each turret must be destroyed in order to gain access to the next turret in that lane. Cooperating with fellow summoners is absolutely required for success, as it's easy for a champion to find himself ambushed by enemies in the lanes of the Rift.
The Summoner's Rift also features equal jungle on both sides of the map and is populated by neutral monstrers, the two stronger ones give a special buff to the killer and along with the small ones additional gold. The Rift is split in two halves by a river which is neutral territory and it allows fast traveling through the lanes. The two bases at the corner of the map are populated by the shop, the nexus, two towers protecting the nexus and the inhibitors.

Baron Nashor and Dragon

The jungle also features two boss-like neutral Dragon or Drake and the toughest one Baron Nashor.
Dragon(Drake)
Dragon is at the bottom right side of the river and gives globally extra gold to the whole team that killed it.
Baron Nashor
Baron Nashor is at the top left side of the the river and gives globally to the whole team that killed it extra gold and a buff.

Different Versions of The Summoner's Rift

Winter Version
The winter version of the Rift was designed and released for the 2009 Snowdown Showdown. It was also used in 2010 and 2011 Snowdown Showdowd before being replaced by the Automn version. It features a white and snowing Rift with a frozen river and the feel of christmas all over it.
Automn Version
Automn Version was designed especially for the 2010 Harrowing Seasonal Event. It was replaced two times by the winter version after the decision of the summoners and it features a more gloomy and dark Rift.At the bottom right of the map there are coffins signifying the death of champions that were stopped from developing.
Summer Version
The summer version is the default and most widely used by Riot Games from the start of LoL.

Easter Eggs

In the Automn version, you can find Urf's ghost(a champion created as a prank by Riot Games)in the river near the top lane opposite to Baron Nashor
The Rift is very similar to a popular map from Defense of the Ancients
The neutral monster camps in the Rift were normalized in patch V1.0.0.96: before that, wolf camps and golem camps randomly changed place.

The Twisted Treeline

The Twisted Treeline it was released publicly in practice games on October 27, 2009 and released for normal games on March 30, 2010.The Twisted Treeline map was reworked, and the new version released with patch V1.0.0.150 on October 17th, 2012.It was previously located near Zaun, but was retroactively relocated to the Shadow Isles.

Twisted Treeline map features faster paced 3v3 action due to its two lanes. Both lanes are slightly curved. The map also features several neutral monster camps, and plenty of opportunities for team fights due to the large mid forest located on the map. The path over the top lane is Vilemaw's lair, while the lower forest narrows in the middle and is very open, encouraging team fights around the altars.

Crystal Star

Dominion beta began on Sept 21th, 2011 and lasted approximately two hours. Another beta testing started on September 23rd, 2011. Dominion was released to the public at 6:00am PDT on September 26th, 2011.

Dominon is a capture-and-hold game mode where two teams of five players compete on the Crystal Scar Field of Justice to destroy the enemy nexus. The nexus is invisible and has 500 life points. These life points can only be low by controlling more Capture points than the enemy team: the more points you control, the faster life points are lost by the enemy nexus. When both teams have the same amount of capture points, neither nexus will be damaged. Killing an enemy champion also reduces their nexus' HP by 2. The nexus' HP will stop depleting life by champion kills once it reaches 100 HP to avoid victory by "ninja capping" (capturing points just to deplete the health of the nexus instantly) or by "winning kill" (associating victory by finishing off enemy champions).
